An in-depth journey that covers almost all the sites of Northern Vietnam, offering you a truly experiences of local life in the area. Start with the charming city of Hanoi, our driver and guide will take you for a round trip visiting Ninh Binh, Mai Chau, Dien Bien, Sapa, Ha Giang, Ba Be, Cao Bang and finally, the stunning Halong Bay. Usually, it would be a hard and long journey but the whole experience will be worthwhile. If you wish to adjust the itinerary yourself to fit your party, this trip can be turned into a Vietnam tailor-made tour to the North.

Day 1 Hanoi Arrival

Welcome to Hanoi - the capital city of Vietnam with beautiful tree-lined streets and colonial buildings, a heaven of vendor foods and hospitable people. Arrive in Noi Bai International Airport, our guide will be waiting there to take you to your hotel in the city center for a short rest.
In the afternoon, take a rickshaw tour along the streets of Hanoi, taking in the vibrant Old Quarter, then enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 2 Hanoi – Cycling in nearby villages

Cycling is one of the best ways to discover the local life!
Today you will wake up a bit early and have breakfast in your hotel before heading to the outskirt of Hanoi for a full-day Hanoi cycling tour around the craft villages.
Cycling along the small and windy paths of the village to the vegetable field where many local people are working on. Enjoy the sightseeing en route and stop to take photos at your leisure. Feel free to talk to the farmers to learn more about their life and try doing some farming activities like plowing and watering. Prepare to get dirty but have some unforgettable moments! Later on, you will ride back to your host family for a wonderful cooking session and lunch with delicious local foods.
In the afternoon, bid farewell to the smiling farmers, as we continue our cycling journey to a nearby village to visit a local family who produces rice wine. After that, get on your bike again and head to the next stop where you will visit local workshops of Son Dong wood carving village to admire the skillful local artisans who make sacred statues and other items. Conclude this Hanoi cycling tour with a short visit to the local pagoda before embarking on car to drive back city center.

Day 3 Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Biking in Cuc Phuong

This morning our driver and guide will meet you at your hotel for a 2-week journey visiting the North Vietnam in depth. The first destination is Ninh Binh with Cuc Phuong, the oldest National Park in Vietnam. Stop and visit the renowned Endangered Primate Rescue Centre to see some of the rarest apes and monkeys in the world and learn about the conservation efforts to save them. Next on this Ninh Binh tour, we will hop on our bikes and ride through the national tropical forest, discovering its rich flora and fauna system and the thousand-year-old trees draped in vines. Enjoy this night on a lakeside bungalow in the National Park.

Day 4 Ninh Binh – Mai Chau – Trekking

Conclude our Ninh Binh tour with a hearty breakfast and then we get in the car and continue our journey to Mai Chau. Nestled between two towering cliffs with emerald green paddies, it is an enchanting sight which presents an idyllic rural scene that could easily make people fall in love with it at first sight. Stop en route to capture beautiful moments of the valley. Lunch with delicious local foods is served in the village.
In the afternoon, start the trekking tour to Pom Coong and Na Phon villages - home to Thai minority people. Trekking along the terrace rice fields and small villages, you can have a chance to experience both the natural beauty of the area and discover the culture as well as meeting and communicating with local people. Get back to your host family in the afternoon and join them for a homemade dinner with local foods.

Day 5 Mai Chau – Son La – Dien Bien

Enjoy a simple breakfast with your host family then head towards Dien Bien, where the epic memories of the Dien Bien Phu Battles still resonate. Along the way, we will drop in some local villages of H'mong, Thai, Muong and Dzao tribes as well as the green tea hills of Moc Chau. We will have lunch in Son La.
After lunch, we continue our journey through the bumpy yet breathtaking roads to reach Dien Bien. Stop the at picturesque Pha Din Pass to take some photos. Pha Din Pass is among the four most beautiful passes of Northwest Vietnam and is considered the connection between Heaven and Earth.
Arrive in Dien Bien Phu in the late afternoon and enjoy the rest of the day on your own.

Day 6 Dien Bien Phu – Lai Chau – Phong Tho

This morning, visit the local market of Thai people where you can see them in traditional costumes selling various farming products such as vegetables, seeds, and meats….
After that, we will visit some main historical sites of Dien Bien, including Dien Bien Phu Museum, A1 hill and the Dien Bien Phu Cemetery for a minute of silence in memory of the heroes who sacrificed themselves the victory of Dien Bien Phu Campaign. Other sites include General De Castries Bunker, Old Muong Thanh Bridge, and Nam Ron River.
In the afternoon, we will head towards Lai Chau along the bumpy roads and drop in ethnic villages en route. Overnight in Phong Tho.

Day 7 Lai Chau – Sapa

After breakfast, we will leave Lai Chau to drive up Tam Duong to visit some morning markets. Then we head to Sapa on a bumpy path with breathtaking scenery of yawning valleys, beautiful rivers, and row after row of mountains The drive to Sapa will take you over the Tram Ton Pass - the highest pass of Vietnam where you can view the Fansipan peak - the roof of Indochina. Then we will visit the nearby Silver Waterfall before arriving in Sapa town. Spend the afternoon on your own explorations.

Day 8 Sapa – Sau Chua Village

This morning is free for your leisure before getting picked up by our guide for the trekking journey.
At around 10:00am, start your tour with some main attractions in the town: the local market, the Old Church, and dining shops... Later on, trek through stunning paths to Sau Chua village - home to the H’mong minority. The beautiful sceneries have been nearly untouched by tourists. It is located on the mountain summit, Sau Chua village gives you a panorama view of the town. Walking along the roads of the village, you will meet local people with warm smiles who will happily share with you about their daily lives.
Drive back to your hotel and rest of the day is for your own explorations.

Day 9 Sapa – Can Ho B and Ta Giang Phinh villages

Today you will have a full day to discover the local villages. Starting in Sapa, we will make our way through stunning paths, enjoying the magnificent sceneries and waterfalls en route. When you arrive in Can Ho B village - home to Red Dzao people, you will be welcomed by smiling, warm-hearted people. Spend your time to visit the local families and you can talk with people here to learn about their traditions, customs and how they make and dye their traditional costumes. Next, we proceed to visit the Ta Giang Phinh Village of Hmong people for a 4-hour journey. Finally we will drive back to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 10 Sapa – Bac Ha – Hoang Su Phi

Today you leave Sapa for Bac Ha and then Hoang Su Phi - the untouched area of Ha Giang. Depart early in the morning for Bac Ha; if it is Sunday you will have the chance to discover one of the most typical markets of Northwest region: Bac Ha ethnic market. You can also wander around Bac Ha for visit of local hill tribe village of Flower H'mong people and Hmong's King House.
Have lunch then we will head toward Hoang Su Phi. Enjoy a trek through the beautiful villages there and enjoy the night in a local homestay.

Day 11 Hoang Su Phi – Ha Giang

After breakfast, spend a short time strolling around the town then transfer to Ha Giang. Enjoy sightseeing en route. As we reach closer to Ha Giang, we will drop in a local village nearby - home to Tay ethnic minority for a short trek.

Day 12 Ha Giang – Quan Ba – Yen Minh – Dong Van

After breakfast, we will head to Dong Van Karst Plateau and enjoy the beauty of Pac Sum Pass, Heaven Gate, Fairy Mountain in Quan Ba, and the Tam Son town on the way. We will stop in Yen Minh for lunch then proceed to the picturesque Sung La Valley with endless greening scenery, row after row of mountains, and aged houses...In Sung La, there is an old house surrounded by a buckwheat flower garden which is well-known thanks to a movie named "Pao's Story". Later on, we continue our trip to visit the King H'mong's Palace - the residence of the Vuong family. Next stop is the Lung Cu Flag Tower and Lo Lo minority village at the foot of mountain before arriving in Dong Van for the night stay.

Day 13 Dong Van – Meo Vac – Cao Bang

Enjoy breakfast then say goodbye to the old town of Dong Van to head toward Cao Bang - the border town. Along the way, we will stop at the scenic Ma Pi Leng Pass (one of the 4 most beautiful passes of Northwest Vietnam) to capture some photos. Next stop is the Meo Vac market, and then we will wander around town. We then continue driving through the mountains, crossing the river, and finally arrive in the village of Bao Lac, where you will have lunch.
We will arrive in Cao Bang in the late afternoon and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 14 Cao Bang – Ban Gioc – Ba Be National Park

This morning we will depart for the Ban Gioc Waterfall, which is close to Vietnam’s northern border with China. You will enjoy the beautiful terraced rice fields dotted with houses en route, which create picturesque scenery. When we arrive in Ban Gioc Waterfall at around noon, you will marvel at its spectacular beauty. After spending a short time relaxing and taking photos, you will then continue to visit the Nguom Ngao Cave, where you get to listen to our guide telling legends about it.
Drive to Ba Be later in the afternoon.

Day 15 Boat trip on Ba Be Lake

Wake up early this morning and enjoy a simple breakfast with your host family before setting off for your exciting day in Ba Be National Park. First, you will board a private boat on the Ba Be Lake visiting the Puong Cave, famous for its thousands of bats. Then, you will sail down the Nang River to see the Dau Dang Waterfall before having lunch at a nearby village restaurant on the river bank.
In the afternoon, you will visit An Ma Temple and then travel a short distance through the forest to the homestay. Enjoy the wild scenery en route.

Day 16 Ba Be - Hanoi

Enjoy breakfast then pack all of your belongings as we head back Hanoi city. Enjoy sightseeing and lunch en route. Check-in your hotel in Hanoi and enjoy rest of the day for your own explorations.

Day 17 Hanoi – Halong Bay – Overnight on Cruise

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before setting out on a 3-4 hour journey to Halong Bay - a natural world wonder. Spend 2 nights onboard an elegant junk, cruising on the emerald water to the far and lesser known areas of Halong; it is a lifetime experience that you will never forget!
Arrive at the dock around noon and embark on the cruise, followed by a delicious lunch while the cruise sails further to the secluded, island-dotted bay. The cruise's itinerary includes visiting one of the caves, exploring the bay on a bamboo boat, which passes by the local floating village and Luon Cave. Come back to your junk for dinner and enjoy the night time on your own.

Day 18 Halong Bay Cruise

Wake up early to capture the most beautiful moments of the bay during sunrise, and then attend a Tai Chi lesson with other passengers. Light breakfast is served with pastries and coffee, while your cruise continues sailing through the islands. Depending on each cruise's itineraries, you will visit a floating village, caves and enjoy kayaking on the emerald water of Halong Bay. Cruise back to your cruise and enjoy dinner on board.

Day 19 Halong Bay – Hanoi

Enjoy a Tai Chi session onboard while your junk navigates through the rock formations of Bai Tu Long and heads back to Halong. Brunch with fresh seafood is served, then we bid farewell to the crew team and get in the car to go back to Hanoi.

Day 20 Hanoi – Departure

Today is your last day in Hanoi. Enjoy breakfast at your hotel then wander around the city for last minute shopping or sightseeing before getting transferred to the Hanoi Airport for your departure flight.
