One week to discover villages of the Red River Delta...
From the charming Hanoi capital, we follow the roads leading to northern villages to get closer views of the local community. Start with the Duong Lam ancient village and visit its old house of over 400 years - you will see a totally different side of Hanoi - no traffic jams, no noise, and no pollution - just old houses and warm-hearted people with smiles on their faces. Then visit the Tien Le veggie village and the nearby wood carving village where you can admire the skillful local artisans. The last destination will be a 1-night stay with a local family in Ninh Binh; taking part in their daily life activities and enjoying the sites nearby.

Day 1 Hanoi Arrival

Welcome to Hanoi - the capital city of Vietnam with beautiful tree-lined streets and colonial buildings, a heaven of vendor foods and hospitable people. Arrive in Noi Bai International Airport, our guide will be waiting there to take you to your hotel in the city center for a short rest.
In the afternoon, take a rickshaw tour along the streets of Hanoi, taking in the vibrant Old Quarter, then savor a Vietnamese dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 2 Hanoi City Tour

With its wide tree-lined boulevards, French-colonial buildings, peaceful lakes, oriental pagodas, and warm-hearted local people, Hanoi offers a timeless charm that will make people fall in love with it.
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before setting out on a full day guided tour where you will discover the cultural and natural beauty of Hanoi. The tour includes visits to main sites such as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex (you just pass by), the nearby One Pillar Pagoda, the Presidential Palace, Temple of Literature, the sedate Tran Quoc Pagoda and Quan Thanh Temple and then, one of the city museums. Conclude the day with the interesting water puppet show – a traditional folk dance with roots from the Southeast Asian's wet rice culture.

Day 3 Hanoi - Duong Lam Ancient Village - Homestay

Our Duong Lam tours will help you trace back to the origin of Vietnam's culture and traditions.
After breakfast at your hotel, our driver and guide will take you on a 2-hour drive to the west of Hanoi to visit Duong Lam - a purely agricultural village of the Red River Delta which still preserves many old houses. After arriving in the village, you start walking along small roads to visit the Mong Phu Hamlet - the only hamlet in the village in which its original gate is still intact. The Mong Phu hamlet is dedicated to national heroes. After leaving the hamlet, you continue walking through the village then visit the local ancient house - dated back over 400 years. Have a chat with the host family to understand more about the long history of the village and also their current daily lives. Lunch in the village.
In the afternoon, continue driving to visit Mia Pagoda, which was built in 15th century. Admire its 287 statues of all sizes, some famous ones being the the statue of Buddha in the Himalayas and the statues of the Eight Vajra Deities. Next, visit the Ngo Quyen temple and Phung Hung temple, which dedicated to two national heroes, Ngo Quyen and Phung Hung. Drive to your homestay to enjoy your night.

Day 4 Duong Lam – Tien Le & Son Dong Villages - Hanoi

Have breakfast then bid farewell to the lovely homestay and continue on your way to Tien Le and Son Dong villages.
Arrive in the peaceful Tien Le village, hop on the bicycles and start cycling along the beautiful roads passing through the veggie field. Put on farming clothes and farming tools, and get ready to get dirty as you will do some farming activities like plowing, growing the vegetables, watering and fertilizing... Next, head back to your host family to cook some traditional foods with the fresh ingredients prepared for you. In the afternoon, say goodbye to your lovely host family, then continue the countryside Hanoi biking tours to a nearby village to visit a local family who produces rice wine. Rice wine here is still made in the traditional way: fermentation and distillation. Listen to a member of the family share about this tradition and try some rice wine if you feel brave enough (yes this rice wine is very strong!!!). After that, get back to your bike and head to the next stop - local workshops of Son Dong wood carving village to admire the skillful local artisans making worshipping statues and items. Drive back to your hotel in Hanoi in the late afternoon.

Day 5 Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Van Long Homestay

Escape from bustling Hanoi to the peaceful Van Long natural reserve in Ninh Binh on a 2 -day trip. You will enjoy a night with local people and take a row boat to visit this stunning wetland, also a nature reserve of the area.
After about a 2-hour drive, we will reach the stilts house in Gia Vien (Ninh Binh). Hop on bicycles then start cycling along the beautiful windy paths to discover the countryside. Along the route, we may drop in some old houses to talk with local people, as well as visit pagodas and local markets.
In the afternoon, we board a bamboo rowboat for a 1-hour sailing along the beautiful wetland of Van Long, enjoying spectacular scenery surrounded by rice paddies and towering limestone mountain peaks. We then visit the floating village of Kenh Ga. Walk around open rice paddies, enjoy a leisurely boat ride along Hoang Long River and watch the village life unfold. Then descend to the cave of Van Trinh, a two-storied spacious cave, well-known for its unique stalagmites and stalactites. Drive back to Gia Vien for dinner with your host family.

Day 6 Ninh Binh – Hoa Lu & Bai Dinh - Hanoi

Enjoy a simple breakfast with your host family then say farewell to them before transferring to Hoa Lu to visit the Dinh and Le Temple. Take pictures around the back roads of old villages, then move to Bai Dinh pagoda, the largest pagoda of Southeast Asia. This pagoda has 500 La Han statues and the biggest bronze Buddha statue in Vietnam, with 10 meters in height and 100 tons in weight. Leave Bai Dinh and we have lunch in a local restaurant before driving back to Hanoi. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 7 Hanoi - Departure

Today is your last day in Hanoi. Enjoy breakfast at your hotel then wander around the city for last minute shopping or sightseeing before getting transferred to Hanoi Airport for your departure flight.
